I woke up to the sound of water running. I hate that.
It seems that a valve under the dining room seat burst and was spraying water. I am not sure how long it was spraying before I woke up, but there was a lot of water on the floor. I opened the door of the motor home to retrieve a mop from my "basement storage" and the ground outside was wet with little puddles all around the motor home. Water was dripping from several places under the motor home.
I shut the water supply off.
Luckily, the RV resort here in Frankfort, Kentucky supplied a list of local RV repair services. I called the first one and the fellow who answered said he was en route to a service call right now but he could be at my location later in the day.
I started mopping the floor.
The repairman arrived in mid-afternoon and luckily had a replacement valve with him on his truck. He repaired the problem with a few minutes and his fee was reasonable. He said he couldn't be certain of the cause of the problem but did suggest purchasing a water pressure regulator. He said one possible cause was that the water pressure was too high in this campground, causing the valve to burst. Another possibility is that the valve was simply old.
I went to a local hardware store and purchased a water pressure regulator before I turned the water back on.
I will say that my floor is now spotless. However, I need to rent a carpet steamer to get rid of the stain in the carpet.
Isn't life in a motor home fun?
I am off to Birmingham, Alabama.
