As mentioned in my earlier article at http://goo.gl/aJjdk, I plan to live in a motor home for the rest of the winter and much of the spring. This week, I drove to Florida and retrieved my motor home from the storage facility where I left it earlier and have now moved on board. I am presently in Jacksonville but plan to move every week or two. I'll be in Florida for about two months, then will move to Texas for a few weeks.
I believe the new mobile lifestyle will have little to no impact on my genealogy newsletter. Thanks to cell phones, wi-fi networks, and wide-area 3G/4G wireless networks from the cell phone companies, I am connected to the outside world almost as well as I am when at home. My home phone is now on call forwarding to my cell phone and new VoIP phone in the motor home. Of course, my email address remains the same as always. I even brought scanners along to digitize any images, as well as all my receipts and any other pieces of paper I wish to preserve for record-keeping purposes. My new motto is "Scan it and trash it," meaning to trash the paper but to preserve the digital images.
I will also be making presentations at a number of local societies in Florida. If you are in the area and would like to attend on of these presentations, you can check the schedule at http://www.eogn.com. Look at the menus along the right edge of that page and scroll down to "Meet Dick Eastman in Person."
Perhaps I will meet you on the road!
