Just a short note to anyone who is interested: I purchased a new vehicle to be towed behind the motor home. It seems that many people who own motor homes deliberately misspell the word "towed" and instead refer to it as the "toad."
Here is my new toad:

I took delivery of the Mini Cooper at the dealer yesterday and soon discovered one thing: it is fun to drive. In recent years, I have owned a number of "fun cars," including a Corvette, a Miata, a Mazda RX-8 with the rotary engine, and a SmartCar. Years ago, I went through a series of Saab Sonetts, in case anyone remembers those two seater sports cars with the fiberglass bodies.
The Mini Cooper is as much fun to drive as any of my previous cars. It has great handling and decent horsepower as well. It doesn't have nearly the horsepower of the Corvette, of course, but it can out-maneuver the Corvette easily. Even better, the EPA rates highway mileage of the Mini Cooper at 37 miles to the gallon. I haven't yet driven enough miles to verify that claim.
Of course, driving the Mini Cooper is a very different experience from driving the motor home!
As a gadget freak, I must say that I love the Mini Cooper's built-in Bluetooth and USB interface that fully controls an Apple iPhone or iPod from the radio in the dash. I plugged in my old iPod that contains about 15,000 MP3 music files and found that I never need to touch the iPod again to switch songs, select artists, or perform any of a number of other functions. Everything is controlled by the radio in the dash. The music sounds great when being played through the auto's six speakers.
I'm looking forward to hauling the Mini Cooper around on the tow dolly behind the motor home.
